Keeping your money secure can feel daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Remember to always follow these simple principles:

* Pause: Think about the call, email or text you just received. Is it unexpected, for example? If it feels wrong, you’re probably right.

* Process: Take a moment to verify a communication from a person or institution you trust using contact details you have sourced independently.

* Proceed: Once you’ve independently verified the call, text or email, use a trusted website, app or contact details to proceed.

Remember most companies will never ask you to transfer money and will never ask you to log into your accounts via links in SMS or email.
